Bio

Harrison Freeth is a Tāmaki Makarau based artist working across sculpture, installation and drawing. Interested in the process of discovery, Freeth’s practice explores the ways in which uncertainty can be a collaborator in a creative process. Implementing elements of play Freeth unpacks personal and collective histories and stories to explore the complexities embedded in adulthood.

Freeth completed his Bachelor of Visual arts in 2020 at the Dunedin school of art with his graduating work exploring the concept of play as a world building and world understanding tool. In 2023 he underwent a collaborative series with Benjamin Work, Bodies of Water, which explored his familial ties to Tonga and Sāmoa. Freeth completed his first solo exhibition, Under the Shade of the Mānuka at Bergman Gallery and his first artist residency at Tautai Gallery in 2025 which explored identity through the foundations of play presented in his graduating year at the Dunedin School of Art.
